Located in the heart of Archdale, NC, Ashland St. Baptist Church is a place of faith and fellowship in our city. We are an independent Baptist church. Our doors are open wide to all who seek to worship, learn, and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Bible

At Ashland St. Baptist Church, we hold the Holy Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice. We believe that the Bible, penned by men under the divine inspiration of God, is without error and contains the complete revelation of God's will for humanity (II Timothy 3:16-17). It serves as the cornerstone of our beliefs and guides every aspect of our lives. We believe the King James Bible is the perfect, inspired, and preserved Word of God for English speaking people.

The Trinity

Our faith centers around the triune nature of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We affirm the deity of Jesus Christ, who, as the eternal Son of God, became incarnate through the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return one day in power and glory (Matthew 1:18-23).

The Church

We believe that the local church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again believers. (1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27). We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. (Acts 14:27; 20:17, 28-32; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11). We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control. (Acts 13:1-4; 15:19-31; 20:28; Rom. 16:1, 4; 1 Cor. 3:9, 16; 5:4-7, 13; 1 Pet. 5:1-4). We recognize water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the church in this age. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 18:18).

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in our lives, illuminating the truth of Scripture, convicting of sin, and empowering believers for service. We believe in the supernatural indwelling of the Holy Spirit in every true believer (Genesis 1:2; Acts 1:8).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19) and that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 38-39; I Corinthians 1:4-8; I Peter 1:4-5) We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. (Romans 13:13-14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)

Baptism

Baptism is a picture and an illustration—a symbolic act. Baptism by immersion best illustrates the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ on our behalf and our subsequent faith in Him. It is not necessary for salvation but is an act of obedience and is strongly associated with salvation, as it best demonstrates our new identity with Jesus Christ. We believe in believer’s baptism. A person must first exercise faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for their sins, was buried and rose from the dead. An infant or person who does not understand God’s plan of salvation cannot make that kind of commitment. The Scriptural order is belief first, followed by baptism. Baptism is limited to those who have personally believed in Jesus Christ as Savior. (Mark 1:9-11,Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 8:12, Matthew 3:13-17, Colossians 2:12)

The Rapture

Looking to the future, we eagerly anticipate the return of Christ and the fulfillment of His promises. We hold to the literal interpretation of Scripture regarding the last days, including the pre-tribulational rapture of the church, the millennial reign of Christ, and the final judgment (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20).

At Ashland St. Baptist Church, we are committed to exalting Christ, proclaiming His Word, and loving one another as Christ has loved us. We invite you to join us on this journey of faith, hope, and love. Come and experience the joy of worshipping the living and ever-present Lord with us. We look forward to welcoming you into our church family!
